Unveil ur heart....

People say not to judge a book by its cover,

Yet when you see me on the streets you judge me instantly and cross over.

You judge my loose garments as a sign of oppression,

It’s time to realise this is my choice of fashion,

I wear the scarf on my head to seek my Lords protection,

For He has ordered me to fulfill this simple obligation.

In the media you make up my personality,

I’ll now reveal my true identity;

Wearing my hijaab to honour myself

Not revealing my beauty for anyone else

Lowering my gaze to preserve my dignity,

A Part of my faith to focus on my piety.

You find it difficult to communicate with me behind my veil,

Let me ask you, does my face behind a phone prevail?

Behind this veil I let myself free,

Free into a sea of spiritual discovery.

My journey as a Muslimah only to please my lord,

As my priorities in life differ from yours.

So next time you see me stop and ask

I’ll try my best to accomplish my dawah task!

I miss the days we used to talk,

About the life of Solafus Soleh.

I miss the times we held hands,

Marching peacefully for our rights.

I miss how we fit together,

Like we were so meant to be.

I miss the talks and the circle,

When it were only they, you and me.

I miss the times we took pictures,

And viewed the album you engraved.

I miss the times you yelled at me,

And told me not to misbehave.

I miss the wonderful hugs

And food we used to share.

I miss you scolding me right,

When nobody else was there.

I miss your soft little voice,

Saying salam and reciting Qur'an.

I miss your warm gentle touch,

When u wake me up for prayer.

I miss all the nights we spent,

Prostrating in Qiamullail.

I miss how it was meant to be,

But you just had to let it go.

I miss everything that we had,

Making our faith and brotherhood so true.

But the thing I miss the most,

Is simply...being loved by you for the sake of Allah.

Ramadhan comes again...................

Late at night when all the world is sleeping, I stay up and think of You... and I wish on a star that somewhere You're thinking of me, too.
